Israel Strikes Against Hezbollah In Lebanon

The Israeli military launched “preemptive” strikes over Hezbollah this Sunday.

The Iran-backed militant group stated that they made the attack in reciprocation for the killing of a top commander. In retaliation for it, the Israeli military force launched its “preemptive” strikes upon Hezbollah in Lebanon.

Israel and Hezbollah, who have been exchanging fire for months, especially with instant strikes, are the alarming and grave ones. The confrontations have heightened the possibility of a regional conflagration, necessitating strong diplomatic attempts to defuse tensions.

The IDF said that their jet fighters—about 100—struck and destroyed thousands of rocket launcher barrels belonging to Hezbollah and dozens of launch sites in Lebanon on Sunday. They followed up with further attacks later in the day.

Israel carried out a preventive strike after learning that Hezbollah was planning to fire missiles and rockets into Israeli regions. Hezbollah called Israel’s preemptive strike baseless.

The IDF spokesperson Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari stated on Sunday that they eradicated a broader threat, which may also pose a future threat in some locations.

The Israel Defense Force said early on Sunday, after the raids from Lebanon, that 200 rockets had been launched. So far, no reports of injuries have been made. Hezbollah claims that it launched 320 rockets and an incursion of drones toward Israel, declaring that its initial round of attacks had been a total success.

On Sunday, Hassan Nasrallah said on a live telecast that their group had completed the attack meticulously and could conduct further strikes.

Netanyahu stated that what happened today was not the end and that Nasrallah in Beirut and Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei in Tehran should be aware that this was another step in Israel’s efforts to transform the situation in the north and securely return Israeli families to their homes.

The strike happened just hours before arbitration talks resumed in Cairo, the capital of Egypt, which seeks to reach a cease-fire-hostage agreement between Israel and Hamas.

21-year-old David Moshe Ben Shitrit of the Israeli Navy was killed, and two others were injured in the fighting.

Lebanese health officials claimed that Israeli strikes on the village of At Tiri in Nabatiyeh, southern Lebanon, killed two individuals.

On Saturday night, the White House expressed that US President Joe Biden is closely watching the affairs in Israel and Lebanon.
